I have always wanted to know who chooses who runs and how can a ordinary Jo Bob run for Mayor. You don't see it advertised in the paper anywhere.
I am sick of the blatant bad use of money we see and in these economic times we cant afford to have a uneducated l council. |

Of course we cant afford to have a bunch of morons running for council. That is why it is important that there is some scrutiny put on these candidates so we can determine if they are up to the job.
As of this morning there are 30 candidiates for the 9 wards and only 1 ward has one nominee and that is Rod Fyffe in the Golden Square ward. |

in a democratic country like Aus i cant believe that only people who own land get to vote in local council elections.
disgraceful
we all have an interest in how our local area is managed. |

Lucky then that all people who are on the electoral role get to vote, not only people who own land! SO if you are enrolled you will get a vote. |

| Well I believe the council needs to look at and justify its recent bad decisions and money wasting IE the mall project walking through CBD thing, Epsom supermarket, Ice skating rink etc one good example is THE BENDIGO CARPARK if we had built it in its original position and the original contractor it would have save Bendigo hundreds on thousands. The need to get on with the job rather than procrastinating and hiring sub standard CEO's |

allowing the new bendigo bank building to look like that. i know some will disagree
lyric destruction
doing basically nothing for our kids. causes more crime
allowing people to be out drinking till all hours. more crime
epsom shopping centre. council rort because council owned the land. disalowed another developer. disgrace

Wrong again!
wats the council done wrong lolwhere have you been.
the levy on cbd businesses for advertising
Requested by a majority of traders
the mall
Again there were complaints about the old mall so council does something and can't please everyone. What would you do?
car parking
Yes lets spend $35 mil on an unwanted car park, your rates will be paying for this although it sounds like you don't pay any. I do and do not wnat it wasted on a car park There is no car parking problem only lazy people who complain if they have to walk more than a few metres to get to a shop.
parking fines raised
Don't park illegally!
allowing the new bendigo bank building to look like that. i know some will disagree
Great idea - tell the bank what to do and encourage them to build it elsewhere - outside Bendigo and take the 1000 jobs with them.
lyric destruction
doing basically nothing for our kids. causes more crime
What would you do? Crime statistics are down!
allowing people to be out drinking till all hours. more crime
Nothing to do with council - State Government problem.
epsom shopping centre. council rort because council owned the land. disalowed another developer. disgrace
And the biggest load of rubbish yet - at least we will have an open supermarket in a few weeks which is all most of the residents want as well as a great new sports ground- in fact council okayed the other development as well but the developer pulled out. And how is it a rort, the money is going to the sports centre - do you think it goes to the councilors?
truck bypass for cbd not done
State Govt and where would you put it and how much do you think it would cost?
moving the police. maybe move some but all!!!
State Govt
the new police building is as bad as bank building
allowing a flooded market. especially with cafe, restaurants, bars in cbd
We live in a free economy - competition is supposed to be good etc.
fix the damn creek
By doing what?
way too many night clubs. creating a bad culture. and all filled with underage drinkers. where are the damn cops
State Govt, what about parents stopping the underage drinkers?
councilors think there above the law
Give an example! Do you actually know any councilors? As you have all the answers I can only assume you are running for council.

Hello huwjon, I do pay rates thank you. I believe this a case of politics ha as my mother told me no one will ever win.
But i believe the town is calling out for parking as when i go to work and if i take my car i need to park at the top of short street as there is not enough parking and i know many business owners who pay large rate costs that park in the cbd getting tickets as there is not enough near buy parking as the need to be close to transport in case of emergency.
The car park yes 35Mil but will now cost more I herd an extra 5 shops would have offset the cost and parking. I have not herd many businesses in the cbd say they are happy with the mall project all i hear is the loss in business due to the bad management.
I have been thinking about this one and can say I love the bendigo center and will have to disagree with scottw on this one and i am not saying the council are criminals I am saying they need to be more direct rather than starting something and procrastinating and losing money rather than having a strong CEO an team working together on a common goal maybe we need Rob Hunt in the job when he retires from the bank.
This topics we are talking bout should have been built 10 years ago but i guess planning have not seen the boom in population with Bendigo who knows. Water is the other issue I know you are going to say it is State and a federal issue but is it who approves subdivisions Ha (Federal and state is another issue heheheh)
There are some hard workers in the council but a lack of leadership |

sounds as if you are defending yourself...
are you a councilor?
what your saying is that the majority of bendigonians are wrong and your right
i bet you are from one of the richer families in the area.
what would i do. nice response. how about fix the problems in the interest of all
cbd business did not want the levy that will only advertise for the bigger business mainly the marketplace. rort.
it is all our problem when kids are out drinking. and its the council who set the times for business to run and sell alcohol |
