Financial Literacy for Not-For-Profit Organisations |
|
 |
|
Hello,
The VCOSS Clearinghouse is pleased to present a training opportunity for community organisations in Bendigo.
My knowledge of community organisations in Bendigo is limited and I would love your support in contacting organisations I don’t know about. It would be great if you could forward this email along to your friends and colleagues in the area who might benefit from attending this event.
Financial Literacy for Not-For-Profit Organisations
When: 10.00am – 3.00pm, Friday 30 October 2009
Cost: $20 for VCOSS Members or
$40 for non-members
(Please note fees can be waived for organisations unable to pay.)
Where: Betty Reilly Room
St Luke’s Anglicare Bendigo
175-187 Hargreaves St, Bendigo
This seminar is designed specifically for workers in the community sector to help people without a financial background make sense of financial statements
This seminar will help you understand your financial statements. Using straight forward techniques learn how to interpret your income statement and your balance sheet. These skills will enable you to ask the right questions and provide you with information that will help in decision making.
Comments from 2008 participants:
I gained a better understanding of what makes an organisation function effectively financially and what issues to be aware of
I felt the course was delivered effectively and gave plenty of opportunity for attendees to put forward questions and to clarify their understanding.
To book your place, please complete the registration form and return to VCOSS via fax on (03) 9654 5749 or email erin.wicking@vcoss.org.au . Places are limited so book TODAY.

15 cars to handed over to red cross on behalf of bendigo fire victims |
|
 |
|
Anonymous writes "Saturday 7 march 15 cars will be handed over to red cross bendigo at KLFM for the fire victims
there are some Standout businesses involved in this Bursons Auto parts, Beeps Auto Parts car part recyclers Bonds and R&J Batterys Borough tyers and Beaurepaires all went well above their budgets they set out for this venture, if the boys needed it it was there they never at any stage said no
I personally Can't thank any of these Businesses enough Bursons Auto parts, car part recyclers and beeps is still supplying parts for the last three cars as a business they should have pulled out three days ago because none of us could expect any company to open their hearts and wallets as much as these three companies have.
all of the Auto Repairers involved only had 14 days to get 15 cars ready to hand over the victims of the bendigo and readesdale fires, they went to great lengths to not only roadworthy the cars and reach the dates for the hand over of the cars but to make sure these cars would last for a long time.
Borough tyers and Beaurepaires and Jax Quickfit Tires handed over tyres for nearly all of the cars between them,
Epson car part recycles and Central Autos donated thousands of dollars in second hand parts Bonds and R & J Batterys replaces and donated batterys for every car involved.
windscreen City and windscreens Obrian, Nova windscreens in ballarat replaced ten windscreens between them.
The Garages Cliff Doherty, Nolan street Autos, Lou Owen, Dyno Tune, in wood street, Mcphersons auto services, Briggs automotive, Roger Hall, in Marong, H & T Webster, Doug Neilson, Greg Boyd autos, Kol Krahe Automotive, Sherlock Autos these guys spent hours repairing and roadworthying these cars, at no cost they were as dedicated as they are with paying customers.
they put their hearts and souls into these cars under great pressure trying to get their clients cars done as well as the donated cars.
Phillips Auto elects, Ray at recycar not only donated time towing cars for us but when we couldn’t find a part he supplied it from his own collection, Sherlock Autos
Natrad and twitts radiators, RMH group cylinder Testing and Repairs, all of these dedicated men and women worked hard and around the clock without a single complaint from anyone.
The Bendigo Advertiser ran with the story so that we could get the cars.
Bendigo vic roads made my life simple with free permits to move the unregistered cars with out fees they bent over backwards to help me in anyway they could.
Klfm what can I say they were great the team worked with me all of the way playing ads Pam donated a car and kept in touch along with hidie then there is the public in which all of this could not have happed I thank Everyone that has come on board
The 12 of cars will be handed over on this Saturday with the rest being handed over as soon as they are available within the next few days This has been no easy task for anybody involved everyone has been working to reach an impossible dead line under extreme circumstances, we are only help a few in the big picture of things and we have not forgotten all of the people that were involved in black Saturday.
from Geoff pearson klfm and all of the people involved in this our hearts and thoughts are with you and remember you are not on your own this involves our whole community red Cross the council and all the other volunteer groups are just waiting on your call to help in anyway they can all you have to do is pick up the phone."

scottmacrae">scottmacrae writes "Bendigo Online in the making. The reason we are here.
About online Bendigo. We were established in 2008
to enable local Bendigo people free access to online services. We took
surveys from local business and the general public and discovered the
need for cheap advertising alternatives. So we formulated a plan to help
Bendigo people in their home town.
We decided to offer free services to both business and consumers and
offset the cost by opening an Online store called BendigoShop.
This was to offset the cost of all free services offered and at the same
time allow Bendigo business the opportunity to sell old and unwanted stock
locally and internationally.
The next thing we had to look at was how we would target our customers.
How to attract people to our site and how to keep them coming back actively
using our Business Directory to gain value for our local Business listed within
the directory.
So then we created Bendigo Forums. This was a way we could enable
people to talk on all issues in life. It offers the ability for people to speak freely
on issues within the Bendigo Community. It also allowed us to have an outlet
for local business to communicate and network with other business owners.
From our Forum we found in the early days people wanted to have access
to free Classifieds that were based within Bendigo.
So we created Bendigo Classifieds. A locally owned and 100% free
online classified service. We have included the ability to sell everything from
cars to Real-estate and household goods within the Bendigo region. I must say
we are happy with the results to date and with our customers and there
outcomes with sales.
To top at all off after watching a show on television where remote farmers
were seeking a partner we decided to start a free online dating service.
As we all know parts of the Bendigo region are remote and people find it
hard to create social networks, friendships and to seek companionship. So
Bendigo Dating was brought to life. Bendigo Dating is a professional
and well formatted dating service that offers everything from, Forums to
live chat and matchmaking programs.
We have prepaid our server fees till 1/04/2010 to allow comfort to our
advertisers and customers that we are here for the long haul.
If you have any ideas on how to improve our sight please post in the forums.
If you want to look at advertising options, or link your own site to us, which is
always much appreciated, and will be a Reciprocal Link as long as your content
is in line with our morels and standards, please contact an admin.
Thank you from the Staff at online Bendigo
